THE FMHA “Museum Happenings” is published monthly to keep you up-to-date on Happenings at the Fort Miles Museum.  This blog focuses on OCTOBER  AND NOVEMBER and, as noted, the blog will be updated monthly (or more frequently, as needed) thereafter.  The blog will also include information about other scheduled events at Cape Henlopen State Park.

The Fort Miles Museum event and tour schedule has transitioned from summer to fall.  The FMHA conducted tours, which were new this summer, concluded on August 27th.

The FMHA summer season wound down with our final event of the season, the 2nd annual “In Remberance of VJ Day” ceremony.  FMHA honored Harold Knowles, a WWII veteran who served at Fort Miles; Robert Sauppee, a WWII veteran who was present on the USS Missouri on September 2 1945 for the Japanese surrender to the Allied Forces; and Jack Bolin, a veteran and dedicated FMHA Bunker Buster, who passed away earlier this year.  Thanks to DNREC Secretary Shawn Garvin for his remarks, as well as our featured speaker, Cindy Todd, Project Coordinator for Delaware State Parks.  Thanks too to Representatives Ruth Briggs-King and Steve Smyk for their attendance and kind words regarding FMHA and Fort Miles.  Members of the Sauppee and Bolin families attended the ceremony in honor of their loved ones.

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, continuing through November 18.  Note:  No tours on October 27 and 28.
